UK visa

I got my UK visa yesterday which was a lot faster than we expected. I also was expecting that it expired after 2 years, but it looks like I'm good till 2012, sorry mom! Looking forward to the next step which is getting tickets and finalizing this thing!

Bird bath Colin

Colin would like to add a mouse to his running total of killed things. He let Basil play with it while it died, so Basil gets part too.

Approved for entry

Yipee! I got confirmation today that my application for a UK visa was approved. It took lots of filling out forms, getting things together, and money (of course), so it's very encouraging to know that it was all done correctly. I think I should have it in my hot little hands later this week and then it looks like we'll be getting some tickets and sorting out the official move! Hooray.

Speedy delivery

I delivered my first baby all on my own two nights ago!!! It was so awesome and I want to deliver even more. The momma came in and went so fast, there was no time for the doctor to get there. But what do you need him for when you've got Dr. Jessi???!! I've seen a million births, but there is something so incredible about being the one to help the baby out that is so cool. I never had the chance before because in VA there were hundreds of residents all roaming around, so anything that happened before their own doctor arrived got passed to the residents. Anyways, it was such a great experience and I'm so glad I got to do it. Maybe I'll just not call the doctors anymore and continue my birthing career!

Cat update

Kill Count that we've seen:
Colin: 4 birds, 1 shrew, 1 butterfly (that my mom was photographing)
Basil: Well, he'll get something eventually!

Basil likes to stay in a box downstairs to keep cool from the heat.

Colin continues chewing on things, here it's a rose bush...don't ask me.

Summer break

Emily and Joshua spent the week at my parents house, so we got to play all week. They had daily trips to my grandparents for swimming at the pool, and my mom pulled out the slip-n-slide today cause it was Hot Hot Hot. I know, not as hot as all of you in Phoenix, but we're not used to that heat here! They're heading back to Salem in the morning, but it's so nice seeing them more than once or twice a year!

Flagging

Tom is enjoying his new job!!! Look at that sign. If you happen to be up past Sandy on Hwy 26, take a swing by and say hi! He'll be flagging part time with my Aunt Lindy over the next 6-ish weeks, and it looks like it'll work out really well for us before we take off! I guess he's been upgraded to a full stop sign now, so that's pretty exciting too.

Giddey-up

My mom, Tom and I went to my Aunt Lindy's today to ride horses. It's been such a long, long time since I've ridden, but was loads of fun. Now I'm going to buy a few horses and ride them all day...nevermind the nursing degree and all that, it's going to be great. Really though, we had fun up there and Tom took a special liking to their dog, Burney.

My mom and Aunt Lindy petting the new babies...they're really sweet and just follow their moms around without being tied up or anything!

5th anniversary

We celebrated our 5th anniversary today! Can't believe how fast it has gone. We went to the Bonneville Hot Springs for two nights which was amazing. We had a hot tub on our patio which was the best. Did lots of swimming, hottubbing, running, eating...good little getaway.
Tom got a fancy shmancy watch for the occasion.
He got me a ring with five little diamonds for five years of marriage, plus it has 6 little saphires in it too. Good job, Tom!

4th of July

Not very much happened for the 4th this year...just stayed around home really. We did manage to get some fireworks, which included tanks, smoke bombs, and sparklers. Basil especially liked the tanks.

England in the world cup

We found an English Pub in Portland that was showing the England World Cup game and Full English Breakfast. We got Matt & Bethany to go with us and stopped by their new Tea Shop, Tea Chai Te, afterwards. Unfortunately England lost, but it was still nice to go and see it.
